IPL 2025: Brydon Carse ruled out of the tournament, SRH rope in South Africa all-rounder as replacement

Brydon Carse has been ruled out of IPL 2025.
The much-awaited 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get underway on March 22, 2025. We are just two weeks away from the first game, and in the meanwhile, a player has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. England’s Brydon Carse, who got ruled out of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025, now has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 as well.
The last season’s finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), signed the English pacer for a price of INR 1 crore at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Carse suffered an injury during England’s first fixture in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Australia and bowled only seven overs.
That injury ruled him out of the tournament, and now he has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 as well. Hence, the franchise has named a replacement and signed South Africa’s all-rounder Wiaan Mulder for the coming season. SRH signed Mulder at his base price of INR 75 lakhs.

Wiaan Mulder was part of South Africa’s squad in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He took six wickets in three games at an average of 18.17 and finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker for his team.
Mulder is an all-rounder, who bowls at good pace and is a handy power hitter down the order. He has played 128 T20s so far and taken 67 wickets at an economy rate of 8.53. With the bat, he has scored 2172 at a strike rate of 132.92. He played three seasons of SA20 for the Durban’s Super Giants (DSG).
This announcement was made in a press release by the IPL, quoting, “Carse is ruled out of the IPL 2025 due to an injury, and his replacement, Mulder, who is an all-rounder, will join SRH for INR 75 lakh.”
SRH retained their core players ahead of the auction and were successful in getting some good T20 overseas stars like Adam Zampa, Kamindu Mendis, and Eshan Malinga at the mega auction. The 2016 winners will begin their campaign on March 23 with a match against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad.
