The broadcasters are showing a green tree symbol on scorecard for every dot ball in IPL 2025.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has so far lived up to the hype and delivered some thrilling contests. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been the most impressive team in the competition so far, sitting atop the points table with two wins in two games.

The most thrilling game of the tournament so far took place on March 24, where Ashutosh Sharma guided Delhi Capitals (DC) to a nail-biting one-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Five-time winners Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have looked like a shadow of themselves and are placed in the bottom half of the table. Punjab Kings (PBKS), on the other hand, have started well under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting and have won their opening encounter.

Viewers, however, have been left confused with the graphic of the tournament, as every dot ball in the game is depicted through a green tree symbol in the scorecard.

As part of its green initiative, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has partnered with the Tata Group and pledged to plant 500 trees for every dot ball bowled in the IPL. The board had implemented a similar initiative in the past two seasons as well.

In December last year, the BCCI announced that the 400,000th tree under its Green Initiative was planted at the newly established BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
