For instance, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) couldn’t put up impressive show this season after winning their opening encounter against Mumbai Indians (MI). Once who were known to dominate the points table from the start, languished at bottom this season mostly.
The format in the IPL sees only four teams making it to the playoffs, while the bottom six get eliminated. Although at times even the last league stage match has proved to be virtual decider for teams to qualify for the playoffs or get eliminated, in some seasons it has been decided early as well.
