Mayank Yadav was retained by LSG for 11 crores before IPL 2025.
Weeks before the start of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have suffered a massive blow, with recent reports suggesting that the franchise could be without exciting fast bowler Mayank Yadav in the first half of the season.
After making it to the playoffs in IPL 2022 and 2023, LSG had a disappointing campaign in IPL 2024, finishing seventh in the league stage with 14 points from 14 games. Their underwhelming performance led the franchise to release captain KL Rahul before the mega auction.
Led by Rishabh Pant this year, the franchise has added some of the biggest superstars to their squad, including David Miller and Mitchell Marsh.
Lucknow Super Giants speedster Mayank Yadav set to miss first half of IPL 2025 – Reports
According to a recent report in ESPNcricinfo, fast bowler Mayank Yadav is set to miss the first half of IPL 2025. The same report states that he is recovering from a lumbar stress injury and has just resumed bowling at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
He has been undergoing rehab after suffering an injury following his India debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh last October.
There is no confirmed date for Mayank’s return. However, if he meets all fitness parameters and gradually increases his bowling workload, he could feature in the second half of the IPL.
His absence will be a big blow for LSG, who retained him for INR 11 crores before the mega auction. Mayank earned his reputation during IPL 2024, where he clocked 150 kmph but faced a similar fate, getting injured after four games.
LSG will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Delhi Capitals on March 24 in Visakhapatnam.
LSG squad IPL 2025: Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant, David Miller, Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Avesh Khan, Abdul Samad, Aryan Juyal, Akash Deep, Himmat Singh, M. Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Akash Singh, Shamar Joseph, Prince Yadav, Yuvraj Chaudhary, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Arshin Kulkarni, Matthew Breetzke.
