IPL 2025 mega auction: Sunrisers Hyderabad rope in Adam Zampa for 2.4 crores

Adam Zampa has picked 21 wickets in his IPL career.

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has established himself as one of the best bowlers in the limited-overs cricket. Zampa is known for his high bowling IQ and fearless approach against the power hitters.

Adam made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2016, playing for Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). Zampa has a total of 341 wickets across 280 games in T20 cricket. Zampa is Australia’s most successful bowler in the T20I cricket with 117 wickets in 95 games at an economy rate of 7.16 runs per over.

Sunrisers Hyderabad buys Adam Zampa for INR 2.4 crore

Adam Zampa will join IPL 2024 finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad for the IPL 2025 season. Entering the auction with a base price of INR 2 crores, the Australian leg spinner attracted bids from Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals before eventually joining SRH for INR 2.4 crores.

Having released Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin, Zampa’s additional will be valuable for Rajasthan’s spin bowling reserve.

Zampa made his IPL debut in 2016. He has taken 21 wickets in 14 games so far in his IPL career, with a bowling average of 17.62, and an economy rate of 7.74. Zampa’s best bowling figures of 6/19 came against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2016. Zampa has represented three teams in his IPL career – Rising Pune Supergiants, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Adam Zampa started his career with RPS with a salary of INR 30 lakhs during 2016-17. His was later bought by RCB for INR 1.5 crores with RCB in 2021. Zampa moved to RR in 2023, for INR 1.5 crores again.
