IPL 2025 mega auction: Glenn Maxwell reunites with PBKS as RCB opt out of using RTM card
Glenn Maxwell managed only 52 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024.
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is regarded as one of the lethal players in the shortest format of the game. Known for his 360 degrees-hitting arc, Maxwell has built a reputation of being the game changer. Maxwell’s first appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) came in 2012 with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
Maxwell’s ability to finish games combined with his handy off-spin bowling makes him one of the most valuable players in the T20 format. Additionally, he is also counted among the best fielders of the world.
Punjab Kings buys Glenn Maxwell for 4.2 crore
The “Big Show” Glenn Maxwell will be heading back to Punjab Kings (PBKS) for IPL 2025. Maxwell has represented Punjab in a total of six seasons previously.
Maxwell’s value of INR 4.2 crores has come as a shock to many who expected the Australian all-rounder to have a heavy payday. CSK and SRH challenged PBKS for Maxwell, before throwing in the towel.
Maxwell will partner Shreyas Iyer in the PBKS batting lineup, forming a formidable middle order for the franchise.
Glenn Maxwell previously in the IPL

After spending another two seasons at Punjab, Maxwell returned to Delhi, where he disappointed scoring only 142 runs in the season. Maxwell signed with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2021, where he finished with an impressive tally of 513 runs.
Maxwell had a poor IPL last season, where he scored just 52 runs in 10 games.
Maxwell began his IPL career with Delhi Daredevils in 2012, earning INR 10 lakhs, before signing with MI in 2013 for a hefty INR 5 crores. His move to PBKS in 2014 saw his salary rise to INR 6 crores. In 2018, he rejoined Delhi for INR 9 crores, followed by a return to PBKS in 2020 at INR 10 crores.
