IPL 2025 mega auction: RCB refuse RTM card as GT rope in Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj took 15 wickets for RCB in IPL 2024.
Pacer Mohammed Siraj has risen through the ranks since 2020 and become a key figure of the Indian cricket team.
Siraj is one of the best seamers in the country and is a proper wicket-taker with the new ball. Known for his deadly outswinger to the right-handers, in recent times, Siraj has added the variety of an inswinger as well.
The 30-year-old was part of the Indian squad that won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year. So far, he’s featured in over 30 test matches, 44 ODIs, and 16 T20Is, snapping over 150 wickets overall.
Three of Siraj’s most memorable performances in India colors came in the test matches in Gabba in 2021 and Cape Town in 2024 and in the Asia Cup 2023 final in Colombo, all of these three results ending in India’s favor.
Mohammed Siraj sold to Gujarat Titans for INR 12.25 crore
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was sold to Gujarat Titans for a whopping INR 12.25 crore in the mega auction. GT and CSK started the bidding war for Siraj from his base price of INR 2 crore and went until 8.25 crore when RR replaced CSK. GT remained steadfast and eventually secured Siraj at INR 12.25 crore.
Mohammed Siraj previously in the IPL
Siraj made his IPL debut in 2017 for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before joining RCB in 2018. Siraj has made his name in the IPL at RCB, having been with the franchise until 2024.
In 93 IPL matches, he’s snared 93 wickets at an average of 30 with two four-wicket hauls, including a best of 4/21.
Siraj’s salary at RCB in the last three seasons was INR 7 crore each when he was retained ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Despite picking 34 wickets in the last two seasons, Siraj was released by RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
