IPL 2025 mega auction: SRH spend 11.25 crores to rope in Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan was released by MI ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Being a young wicket-keeper opener, Ishan Kishan expectedly set the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction alight as multiple teams bid for him.
The 26-year-old Kishan has featured in all three formats for India, though he’s never been able to cement his place in the squads. The left-handed keeper-batsman from Jharkhand has two tests, 27 ODIs, and 32 T20Is under his belt.
His biggest achievement in India colours is an ODI double century, which he struck against Bangladesh in 2022. He has also notched up 14 fifties across formats in international cricket.
Ishan Kishan sold to SRH for INR 11.25 crore
SRH bought Ishan Kishan for INR 11.25 crore in the mega auction. MI, PBKS and DC were involved in a battle for the left-hander but at 10.25 crore SRH entered the race and secured Kishan’s services for 11.25 crore.
Ishan Kishan previously in the IPL
Kishan started his IPL journey with the now-defunct Gujarat Lions in 2016 and spent two seasons there. In the 2018 mega auction, Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 6.2 crore. He had immense success at MI, contributing to their title-winning campaigns in 2019 and 2020.
MI released him ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction but bought him back for INR 15.25 crore. They once again released him before the IPL 2025 mega auction while retaining five other capped players.
In 105 IPL matches, Kishan has scored 2644 runs at an average of 28 and a strike rate of 136 with 16 fifties to his name. His highest score in the IPL is 99, which came against RCB in IPL 2020.
