LSG spent INR 27 crores to buy Rishabh Pant at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made the biggest splash at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction when they made Rishabh Pant the most expensive player in IPL history, splurging INR 27 crores on the wicket-keeper batsman.

LSG had staved off competition from SRH and RCB to buy Rishabh Pant at INR 20.75 crores. But Delhi Capitals exercised their RTM card option and matched the same bid.

LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka then raised the bid directly to INR 27 crores, which DC didn’t match, and hence Pant went to Lucknow for a record sum. Pant is also very likely to be named the new captain of Lucknow, who parted ways with KL Rahul after IPL 2024.

Lucknow, who had entered the mega auction with INR 69 crores in their purse after retaining five players, also purchased David Miller and Aiden Markram.

Total amount spent by LSG:

105.15 crores

Total purse available for LSG:

14.85 crore

Total slots available for LSG:

13 slots (4 overseas)

All players bought on Day 1 by LSG:

  1. Rishabh Pant – 27 crore (BP – 2 crore)
  2. David Miller – 7.5 crore (BP – 1.5 crore)
  3. Aiden Markram – 2 crore (BP – 2 crore)
  4. Aryan Juyal – 30 lakh (BP – 30 lakh)
  5. Abdul Samad – 4.2 crore (BP – 30 lakh)
  6. Avesh Khan – 9.75 crore (BP – 2 crore)
  7. Mitchell Marsh – 3.4 crore (BP – 2 crore)

LSG retentions before auction: Nicholas Pooran (INR 21 crore), Ravi Bishnoi (INR 11 crore) Mayank Yadav (INR 11 crore), Mohsin Khan (INR 4 crore), Ayush Badoni (INR 4 crore)

Shashwat Goenka of LSG said, “No matter how much you plan, things don’t always work out like that. This (getting Pant for 27 crore) was very well to our plan. It wasn’t really a magic number, we just wanted a number so that the RTM doesn’t get exercised.”
