Mitchell Marsh scored only 61 runs in IPL 2024 for Delhi Capitals.

Mitchell Marsh is one of the biggest names in Australian cricket. He’s their T20I captain and is part of the first-choice playing XI of the other two formats as well.

The lanky all-rounder from Perth is the son of the legendary Geoff Marsh and the younger brother of former Australia batsman Shaun Marsh. For the majority of his international career, Marsh faced criticism and doubts.

Marsh made his T20I and ODI debuts for Australia in 2011 and test debut in 2014. While he produced flashes of brilliance and won a game here and there, his inconsistency and injury issues hampered his career significantly. It was only in mid-2019 that he brought more consistency to his test career and turned into an explosive power-hitter in white-ball cricket.

So far, he’s featured in 42 tests, scoring 2010 runs at an average of 30 with three centuries, and taken 48 wickets. He’s played 158 white-ball international games, in which he’s amassed close to 4500 runs and snared 74 wickets. He’s one of the most destructive batsmen in the world.

Mitchell Marsh sold to LSG for INR INR 3.4 crore

Lucknow Super Giants secured the services of Mitchell Marsh for INR 3.4 crore. SRH and LSG were the only two teams who bid for Marsh and the latter managed to purchase him.

Mitchell Marsh previously in the IPL

Marsh made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2010 for Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) before spending the next three seasons at Pune Warriors India. He was part of the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

He missed the next two IPL seasons and returned in IPL 2020, when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought him for INR 2 crore. Mitchell Marsh landed his highest contract in the IPL in the 2022 mega auction as Delhi purchased him for INR 6.5 crore.

He spent the last three years at Delhi but struggled heavily with injuries as he played 21 matches in three seasons. Last season, he managed 61 runs in four outings before being ruled out.
