IPL 2025 mega auction: Mustafizur Rahman attracts no bids, remains unsold
Mustafizur Rahman picked 14 wickets for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.
Bangladeshi fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has established himself as one of the finest T20 bowlers in the world. The left-arm bowler thrives best in death overs with his slower ball variations combined with pinpoint yorkers.
Nicknamed “Fizz,” Mustafizur made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2016 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Mustafizur continues to build on his legacy with an impressive tally of 337 wickets in 268 games in the T20 format.
Mustafizur Rahman unsold at IPL 2025 mega auction
Mustafizur’s name was brought up once at the IPL 2025 mega auction, but no franchise bid for the Bangladeshi seamer and he went unsold. Mustafizur, though, could comeback in the IPL if any franchise ropes him in as a replacement player.
Mustafizur Rahman previously in the IPL
Mustafizur started his IPL journey in 2016 with SRH. Playing his first season in the biggest T20 league of the world, Rahman made an instant impact, picking up 17 wickets in 16 games to guide SRH towards their maiden IPL triumph.
Over the years he has represented several franchises – Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Rahman picked up 14 wickets in nine games for CSK last season. Overall, he has 61 wickets in 57 games in the IPL with an economy of 8.1 runs per over.
He holds the record of being first foreign player to be named “Emerging Player of the Tournament.” While his salary has varied over the years, his best-paid season was 2018 when he joined MI for INR 2.2 crores, whereas he played for CSK in 2024 for a salary of INR 2 crores.
