IPL 2025 mega auction: CSK double their bid to snatch Noor Ahmad Lakanwal from GT
Noor Ahmad Lakanwal took eight wickets in IPL 2024 for Gujarat Titans.
Noor Ahmad Lakanwal is a left-arm wrist-spinner from Afghanistan who is taking rapid strides in the world of T20 cricket.
Apart from playing 14 T20Is and 10 ODIs for his country, Noor has featured in 108 T20 matches in T20 leagues around the globe.
His googly is a deadly weapon while his leg-break is also really difficult to pick. Noor has snapped 16 international wickets and is adept at bowling in death overs as well.
Noor Ahmad Lakanwal sold to CSK for INR 10 crore
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured the services of Noor Ahmad in the IPL 2025 mega auction after battling it out with Mumbai Indians (MI) and also staved off Gujarat Titans (GT) who suggested they would want to use the RTM card on the wrist-spinner.
CSK and MI took Noor’s bids to INR 5 crore and CSK made the winning bid. Then GT exercised their RTM card and matched CSK’s bid. CSK then had one chance to raise the bid and they raised it will INR 10 crore. GT didn’t match CSK’s new bid and Noor was dold to CSK.
Noor Ahmad Lakanwal previously in the IPL
Noor Ahmad Lakanwal has featured in two Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons so far in his career. He was part of the Gujarat Titans franchise in IPL 2023 and 2024 seasons.
In 23 IPL matches, Noor picked up 24 wickets with a best of 3/37. He was with GT for only INR 30 lakhs. GT didn’t retain Noor. They tried to use an RTM card on him in the mega auction but couldn’t execute it successfully.
