IPL 2025 mega auction: Prithvi Shaw attracts no bids, remains unsold

Prithvi Shaw scored 198 runs for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.
Indian opener Prithvi Shaw burst onto the cricketing scene as a teenage prodigy, making headlines with his sensational knock of 546-run in Mumbai’s Harris Shield tournament at the age of just 14. Prithvi’s fearless batting approach earned him high praise with former Indian coach Ravi Shastri remarkably comparing him with the great Sachin Tendulkar and Brain Lara.
Shaw made his international debut against West Indies in 2018 in Rajkot, smashing a blistering ton in the first innings of the test. Despite his recent struggles with fitness and form, Shaw remains one of the most skillful batters in the Indian circuit. He has scored 2705 runs in 108 T20 innings at an impressive strike rate of 151.
Prithvi Shaw goes unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction
Prithvi Shaw remained unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Shaw’s name came in the auction on the second day, however, he did not find any buyers.
Shaw can still get the opportunity to participate in the next season of the IPL if any team calls him as an injury replacement during the season.
Prithvi Shaw previously in the IPL
Prithvi Shaw started his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey with Delhi Capitals in 2018, joining the franchise for a salary of INR 1.2 crores. Initially warming the bench, Shaw found his place in the team after Gautam Gambhir’s poor form.
Known for his fluent stroke-making, Shaw quickly established himself as Delhi’s enforcer in the powerplay. Prithvi’s best IPL season came in 2021, when he scored 479 runs in 15 games at an outstanding strike rate of 160.
Inconsistency and poor fitness have been a major obstacle in Shaw’s career. A major dip in form since 2022 has seen him score just 587 at a poor average of 24.
