IPL 2025 mega auction: Sarfaraz Khan attracts no bids, remains unsold

Sarfaraz Khan has scored 441 runs in his IPL career.

Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan has earned his reputation for grinding out stellar performances in the domestic circuit. Sarfaraz made his international debut during the third test between England and India at Rajkot on 15 February 2024. He became the fourth Indian cricketer to score twin fifties on test debut.

Known for his 360-degree hitting ability, Sarfaraz made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2015 with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He has scored 1198 runs in 96 T20 games across his T20 career with a strike rate of 128.

Sarfaraz Khan goes unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction

Indian middle-order batsman Sarfaraz Khan remained unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Sarfaraz’s name came at the auction table on the second day, however, he did not find any buyers. His brother Musheer Khan, however, attracted bids and will represent Punjab Kings.

Sarfaraz can still get the opportunity to participate in the upcoming season of the IPL if any team calls him as an injury replacement during the season.

Sarfaraz Khan previously in the IPL

Sarfaraz started his IPL career with RCB in 2015 and burst onto the scene with an unbeaten knock of 45 off 21 balls against Rajasthan Royals, earning admiration from RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who famously bowed to the then 17-year-old as he walked off the field.

Despite promising performances in 2016, he lost his place in the playing XI in 2017 due to fitness issues. He was however retained by the franchise in 2018 ahead of big names like Chris Gayle and KL Rahul.

In 2018, Sarfaraz joined Punjab Kings (PBKS), but struggled to maintain consistency. He joined Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2023 for a salary of INR 20 lakhs, a significant drop from his 2018 salary of INR 4 crores.

Sarfaraz has scored 441 runs in IPL career with a strike rate of 138.
