IPL 2025 mega auction: Sunrisers Hyderabad rope in Ex-CSK bowler Simarjeet Singh

Simarjeet Singh picked five wickets for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.

Simarjeet Singh is a right-arm pacer who made his Ranji debut for Delhi against Hyderabad in November 2018. The right-arm quick, who can clock 140kph, has also travelled with the Indian team as a net bowler on the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2021.

Simarjeet made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2022. Simarjeet, known for his skiddy pace, has established himself as a regular member of the Delhi domestic team.

SRH buy Simarjeet Singh for INR 1.5 crore

SRH purchased right-arm fast bowler Simarjeet Singh for INR 1.5 crore in the mega auction. Singh was previously part of the CSK franchise and was impressive with the new ball.

In the mega auction, CSK aimed to rope back Singh and bid for him, getting involved in a bidding tussle with SRH. However, in the end, it was SRH who secured Simarjeet’s services for INR 1.5 crore.

Simarjeet was added to the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad in 2021. He was then picked by CSK in the 2022 auction for the base price of INR 20 lakh.

He has picked nine wickets in 10 games in the IPL. Singh’s best season in the league came in 2024 where he finished with five wickets in four games, with a bowling average of 24 and economy of 10 runs per over.

He will now don the SRH jersey and could be effective while bowling under the lights with the new ball at the Uppal Stadium.
