IPL 2025 mega auction: Mumbai Indians rope in England all-rounder Will Jacks

Will Jacks scored 230 runs for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2024.
Will Jacks is regarded as the “Next Big Thing” in England’s limited-overs circuit. Known for his power-hitting ability, the young right-hander made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in 2024, playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Jacks is a versatile batter who can play anywhere in the batting lineup. His hitting ability combined with his handy off-spin bowling make him a valuable player in the shortest format of the game.
Mumbai Indians buy Will Jacks for INR 5.25 crore
Mumbai Indians made a steal in getting Will Jacks for INR 5.25 crore after RCB didn’t use the RTM card. MI and Punjab Kings engaged in a bidding tussle for Jacks from his base price of INR 2 crore. Eventually, MI got Jacks as PBKS moved out and then RCB refused to use their RTM option on the England all-rounder.
The Ambani family was immensely pleased with Jacks’ acquisition. So much that Akash Ambani got up from his seat and went over to RCB’s table to shake hands with their chairman Prathmesh Mishra. It would be interesting to see how Jacks performs against RCB in IPL 2025, if he features in the XI.
Will Jacks previously in the IPL
Will Jacks’s IPL journey began when he was bought by RCB for INR 3.2 crore ahead of the 2023 season. However, an unfortunate injury ruled him out of the season.
His debut in the biggest T20 league came on 11 April against Mumbai Indians. Replacing an out-of-form Glenn Maxwell from the playing XI, Jacks made a huge impact scoring a blistering century (100* off 41 balls) against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Jacks finished the 2024 season with 230 runs at an impressive strike rate of 176.
