PBKS defeated GT by 11 runs in fifth match of IPL 2025.

On Tuesday, March 25, Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off a huge victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) away from home in their opening encounter of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Kings won the game by 11 runs and got their season up and running.

The Titans won the toss and invited Punjab to bat first. Debutant Priyansh Arya lit up the stage with a dream debut performance and notched up a lightning quick 47. Skipper Shreyas Iyer came in at No. 3 and scored 97 not out and led his side to a winning total. Glenn Maxwell was cleaned up for a duck yet again, while Shashank Singh scored 44 runs in 16 balls.

Gujarat were given a target of 244. Sai Sudharshan and Shubham Gill put together a 61-run opening stand and got their side off to a good start. Sudarshan scored 74 before Jos Buttler hit a half century. Sherfane Rutherford scored 46 and kept Gujarat in the game until the very end, but just couldn’t avoid a defeat.

Ishan Kishan is still leading the Orange Cap race with 106 runs. Shreyas Iyer has clinched the second position after scoring 97 runs against GT. Nicolas Pooran is positioned third with 75 runs followed by Sai Sudarshan with 74 runs. Mitchell Marsh completes the list of top five with 72 runs.

Noor Ahmad is still the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with four wickets under his belt. Khaleel Ahmed, Krunal Pandya, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore and Vignesh Puthur, are all tied on three wickets each.
