The 59th match of IPL 2025, PBKS vs DC, was stopped midway in Dharamsala.

On Thursday, May 8, the 59th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was stopped midway. The encounter took place at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala. However, it was affected by technical issues inside the stadium during the first innings.

The PBKS vs DC clash got underway after a delay of one hour and 15 minutes due to rain. PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first. Their openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh slammed fifties to drive the scoreboard to 122/1 after 10.1 overs. However, as the home captain Shreyas Iyer arrived on the field to bat, two floodlights stopped working at the stadium.

As a result, the match was halted and was expected to resume after a short break. However, it was later abandoned due to technical issues inside HPCA Stadium and security issues in Dharamsala city. On Friday, May 9, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended IPL 2025 with immediate effect.

No points awarded to PBKS or DC following 59th match of IPL 2025

As the PBKS vs DC match has been abandoned, there is a little confusion over how many points were awarded to each team. Notably, no points have been awarded to either PBKS or DC after the clash.

Every IPL game comprises two points and the winner of each match gets two points. Usually, teams share one point each when a match gets abandoned. However, since the PBKS vs DC encounter was abandoned due to different circumstances, there have been no points given to both of the teams as seen in the official IPL website.

Therefore, there are no changes to the points table after the encounter. The Shreyas Iyer-led side take the third spot in the points table with 15 points. They have played 11 games; winning seven and losing three clashes. Their one match ended with no result.

On the other hand, the Axar Patel & Co. capture the fifth spot in the points table with 13 points. They have won six games and lost four matches out of 11. Their one match ended with no result. Also, the result of the 59th match is yet to be confirmed by IPL governing council. With the tournament getting suspended for a week, the match also might take place once again.
