6 players who should be called up to India's T20I squad after impressive performance in IPL 2025

Sai Sudharsan won the Orange Cap for scoring most runs in IPL 2025 and has been named in India squad for England tests.

The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) proved to be a blockbuster season, culminating in Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally winning their maiden title with a win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final.

RCB were the best team of the season, and they had several key performers throughout the season. The tournament also saw a number of Indian stars showing their ability to best effect.

As seen over the years, the IPL is the best platform to showcase your T20 skills, and some Indian players certainly grabbed the opportunity with both hands in the IPL 2025. In this article, we will talk about six such stars who should get a T20I call-up into the Indian Cricket Team after their consistent performance in the IPL 2025.

Six players who should be called up to India’s T20I squad after impressive performance in IPL 2025

1. Prabhsimran Singh

Prabhsimran Singh had two good seasons for PBKS in 2023 and 2024. But in the IPL 2025, he was at the top of his game and played a number of impactful innings. The keeper-batter finished with 549 runs at a strike rate of 160.52 and four half-centuries.

What was best to see was that he kept his aggressive approach at the top, which benefited him and PBKS. He is certainly the one to look for in the future as a backup keeper in T20Is.

2. Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan bagged several awards in IPL 2025. His form was one of the key reasons behind Gujarat Titans (GT) making it to the playoffs. The left-hander finished with 759 runs at an average and strike rate of 54.21 and 156.17 respectively, with one century and six half-centuries.

He won the Orange Cap, Fantasy Player of the Season, Emerging Player of the Season and the award for Most Fours in the season. He showed that with his risk-free approach, he can make a big impact and is one who should get a chance in India’s T20I setup.

3. KL Rahul

Once India’s first-choice top-order T20I player, KL Rahul, lost his T20I spot after the emergence of other young stars. But in IPL 2025, fans saw his 2.0 version, which suited the demands of modern-day T20I cricket.

Playing for Delhi Capitals (DC), Rahul finished with 539 runs at a strike rate of 149.72. With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not available, Rahul’s experience is something India can use in the coming years.

4. Shreyas Iyer

Punjab Kings made it to the final of IPL 2025 largely because of the way Shreyas Iyer led the team from the front. He won KKR the title in 2024, and this season he took his game one step further. Iyer, individually, was way better than in previous years, and his game against pace bowling has improved very much.

He scored 604 runs at an average and strike rate of 50.33 and 175.07 respectively. With the form he is in, he can be a bankable batter for India in the middle order in T20Is.

5. Shashank Singh

Shashank Singh made his name after performing well in 2024 for PBKS and was retained by the franchise for IPL 2025. He didn’t disappoint this year as well and showed his finishing skills down the order. His unbeaten 61 off 30 in the final was the standout innings where PBKS fell short of just six runs to lift the title.

Shashank scored 350 runs this season at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 153.50. He batted in difficult situations and made an impact most of the time. He showed that he could be a good finisher if given a chance in India’s T20I side.

6. Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna was struggling with the injury in the last two seasons, but made a stunning comeback in IPL 2025. He was the go-to bowler for GT and also retained his place in the test side for the English tour. But the way he bowled in the middle overs, he finished with 25 wickets and won the Purple Cap.

His consistency and wicket-taking ability are something India need in T20Is, and he should get a chance in the upcoming T20I assignments.
