Gujarat Titans steal top spot in IPL 2025 points table after 57 games.

Unfortunately, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to security reasons. The tournament has been suspended for a week after the completion of 57 games. BCCI will soon take a call on the rescheduling of the rest of the matches.

A total of 10 teams are part of IPL 2025, which is the 18th edition of the cash-rich league. IPL 2025 almost reached the climax before its suspension as some teams were eyeing to confirm their playoffs’ berth. However, none of the teams have bagged a place in the playoffs so far in the league.

Moreover, three teams are already out of the race for the playoffs. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs. Later, Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (RR) became the next two sides to be eliminated from playoffs’ race. The rest seven teams are still active in the race for a top four finish in the points table.

Notably, the 58th match of the season, PBKS vc DC, was abandoned midway at Dharamsala’s Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association stadium due to technical and security issues and both the teams were not awarded points following the match. Usually, teams share one point each when a game gets abandoned in the IPL. However, with no points or result being announced so far, it looks like the BCCI might organise the game again once the tournament resumes from suspension.

On that note, let’s take a look at how the points table looks like after first 57 games of the tournament.

Gujarat Titans (GT) steal the top spot in IPL 2025 points table after 57 games. The Shubman Gill & Co. have 16 points with eight victories and three defeats across 11 encounters. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) follow them in the second place with an equal number of points but a lower Net Run Rate (NRR). The Rajat Patidar-led side have also won eight games and lost three out of 11.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) capture the third and fourth spots respectively. PBKS have 15 points after seven wins and three defeats across 11 matches. Their one match ended with no result. Notably, PBKS had to chance to book their place in the playoffs during their match against DC in Dharamsala, which got abandoned.

Hardik Pandya-led MI look strong with seven wins and five defeats across 12 matches. They look like a balanced side with explosive batters and a dominant pace attack. DC, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take the next three places respectively in the points table and have a thin chance to make it to the top four. However, they have struggled with consistent performance in their last few games.

SRH, RR, and CSK languish at the bottom three spots and are out of the race for playoffs. While SRH have three more games left in the season, CSK and RR will play two more matches.
