PBKS defeated CSK by four wickets in match 49 of IPL 2025.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosted Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match No. 49 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The CSK vs PBKS clash took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. PBKS had a target of 191 runs to chase, where captain Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh helped the visitors win the match comfortably by four wickets with their wonderful fifties.

Earlier, PBKS skipper Iyer won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match. CSK lost both their openers cheaply. However, Sam Curran, batting at No. 3, slammed a marvellous half-century (88). Dewald Brevis added crucial 32 runs.

In the 19th over of the first innings, PBKS spinner Yuzvendra Chahal clinched a fabulous hat-trick to dismantle CSK’s lower-order. He captured a total of four wickets in the match. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen picked two wickets each as CSK were bundled out for 190 runs. After the defeat, the Super Kings are now out of the playoffs race.

After 49th match of IPL 2025, CSK are still at bottom of the points table. They have four points and Net Run Rate (NNR) of -1.211. Following the loss, CSK now have been eliminated from the tournament. On the other hand, PBKS have jumped to second place. They now have 13 points and NRR +0.199.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) steal the first and third spots with 14 and 12 points respectively. GT take the fourth spot with 12 points. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) take the ninth spot with six points.

IPL 2025: Most runs (Orange Cap)

There are no changes in the list of top five highest run-scorers after the CSK vs PBKS game. GT’s Sai Sudharsan steals the top spot, followed by RCB opener Virat Kohli.

Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal grab the third and fourth spots respectively. Another GT batsman Jos Buttler is positioned fifth.

IPL 2025: Most wickets (Purple Cap)

RCB’s Josh Hazlewood takes the top spot in Purple Cap leaderboard with 18 scalps. GT pacer Prasidh Krishna is next on the list with 17 wickets. CSK spinner Noor Ahmad, who got one wicket in the match, grabs the third spot. He now has 15 wickets.

Khaleel Ahmad (14) and Mitchell Starc (14) and take the fourth and fifth spots respectively with an equal number of wickets. Khaleel picked two wickets in the match.
