GT defeated KKR by 39 runs in the 39th match of IPL 2025.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns in the 39th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Monday, April 21. The KKR vs GT clash took place at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The visitors GT outplayed KKR by 39 runs in the match. The hosts failed to chase down a 199-run target. GT bowlers showed wonderful teamwork to restrict KKR from winning the game.

Earlier in the game, KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl first. GT openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill did a wonderful job in batting. They etched an opening stand of 100+ runs and slammed half-centuries in the match.

Later, Jos Buttler also shattered an unbeaten 41 runs to power the team total to 198/3 in 20 overs. KKR bowlers completely failed to dismantle GT batters. Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, and Andre Russell clinched one wicket each.

After the 39th match of IPL 2025, GT take the top spot in the updated points table. They have 12 points and Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.104. On the other hand, KKR now grab the seventh position with six points and NRR of +0.212.

Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hold the second and third spots respectively with 10 points each. Punjab Kings (PBKS) also have 10 points but take the fourth position in the latest team standings. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are placed at bottom of the table.

IPL 2025: Most runs (Orange Cap)

Sai Sudharsan slammed a half-century in the match and now takes the top spot in the Orange Cap leaderboard. He has replaced Nicholas Pooran from the top spot. Jos Buttler has jumped to the third spot with an unbeaten knock of 41 in the KKR vs GT match. MI batter Suryakumar Yadav and RCB opener Virat Kohli hold the fourth and fifth spots respectively. Interestingly, there are no KKR batters in the list of top five highest run-scorers this season.

IPL 2025: Most wickets (Purple Cap)

GT pacer Prasidh Krishna, who picked two wickets in the match, continues to take the top spot in the Purple Cap leaderboard. He has extended his tally to 16 wickets. Sai Kishore is another GT member on the list with 12 scalps. He took one wicket in the clash.

There are no KKR bowlers among the top five highest wicket-takers in IPL 2025. Kuldeeep Yadav and Noor Ahmad take the second and third spots respectively with 12 wickets each. RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood is ranked fifth with 12 wickets.
