IPL 2025: Points table, most runs, most wickets after match 22, PBKS vs CSK

PBKS defeated CSK by 18 runs in the 22nd match of IPL 2025.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 18 runs in the 22nd match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Chasing a gigantic 220-run target in the clash, CSK openers Rachin Ravindra (36) and Devon Conway (69) gave a quickfire start to the innings. The overseas duo added 59 runs in the powerplay overs.

Later, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad got out for just one run while Impact Player Shivam Dube added 42 runs. Following him, MS Dhoni came up the order and did whatever he could, scoring 27 off 12 deliveries.However, it was not enough for them as the Men in Yellow managed to reach reach 201/5, losing the game by 18 runs.

Earlier, PBKS won the toss and opted to bat first in the clash. Their young opener Priyansh Arya entered the record books with a magnificent century (103 off 42) while other top six batters failed to go past 10-run mark in the innings. Priyansh smashed the fastest century by an uncapped player in the IPL. Later, Shashank Singh (52) and Marco Jansen (34) did some power hitting in the death overs to guide their side to a huge total of 219/6.

For CSK, Khaleel Ahmed and Ravichandran Ashwin picked two wickets each. Pacer Mukesh Chowdhary and spinner Noor Ahmad clinched one scalp each.

IPL 2025: Updated points table

After losing match No. 22 of IPL 2025, CSK have dropped down to ninth in the points table with two points and Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.889. The Men in Yellow have won only one game and lost four matches out of five clashes so far.

On the other hand, PBKS have jumped to the fourth position in the updated points table. They have six points and NRR of +0.289. Out of four games, PBKS have won three and lost one. Delhi Capitals (DC), Gujarat Titans (GT), and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) grab the top three spots in the IPL 2025 points table with six points each.

IPL 2025: Most runs (Orange Cap)

Notably, there are no CSK and PBKS batters among the top five highest run-getters in the league after match 22. Nicholas Pooran, who slammed a half-century in the afternoon game on Tuesday, holds the top spot in the Orange Cap leaderboard with 288 runs.

His teammate, Mitchell Marsh, follows him next on the list with 265 runs. Suryakumar Yadav, Sai Sudharsan, and Ajinkya Rahane are the other three batters in the list of top five highest run-scorers of IPL 2025.

IPL 2025: Most wickets (Purple Cap)

CSK spinner Noor Ahmad, who picked one wicket in the game, has retained his peak position in the Purple Cap leaderboard with 11 wickets. Hardik Pandya follows him next with 10 wickets. Khaleel Ahmed, who picked two wickets in the match, now holds the third spot with 10 wickets.

With nine wickets each, Mitchell Starc and Mohammed Siraj are next on the list. Interestingly, PBKS do not have any bowlers among the top five highest wicket-takers in the tournament as of now.
