RCB defeated CSK by 50 runs in the eighth match of IPL 2025.

On Friday, March 28, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 50 runs in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, RCB started well, with Phil Salt and Virat Kohli adding 45 runs for the first wicket. Rajat Patidar then led the visitors in the middle overs, tackling CSK spinners with ease and scoring 51 off 32 balls, including four fours and three sixes.

Tim David then smashed three sixes in the final over to propel the team to a competitive total of 196. Noor Ahmad was the most successful bowler for Chennai, finishing with match figures of 3/36.

In reply, Chennai had a disastrous start, losing Rahul Tripathi, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Deepak Hooda inside the powerplay.

Rachin Ravindra top-scored with 41 off 31 balls, but the CSK innings never found any rhythm and remained well behind the chase, ultimately finishing with just 146/8. Josh Hazlewood was RCB’s best bowler, with three wickets in his spell.

Thanks to a comfortable win, RCB now have four points from two matches and are placed first in the points table. CSK, on the other hand, have two points in as many games and are placed seventh in the points table.

LSG, PBKS, and DC occupy the second, third, and fourth spots, while MI, GT, and RR are yet to open their account and sit at the bottom of the table. SRH and KKR are fifth and sixth respectively, with two points each.

LSG duo Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh occupy the top two spots in the list of highest run-scorers in the ongoing IPL 2025 with 145 and 124 runs respectively.

SRH’s Travis Head is in third spot with 114 runs. Ishan Kishan and Rachin Ravindra complete the list of top five with 106 runs each.

Thanks to his three-wicket haul against RCB, CSK spinner Noor Ahmad now tops the wicket-takers’ chart with seven wickets in the tournament. Shardul Thakur is second with six wickets, while speedsters Josh Hazlewood and Khaleel Ahmed occupy the third and fourth spots with five and four wickets, respectively.

Vaibhav Arora rounds out the top five with three wickets in the tournament.
