RCB will clash with LSG in the 70th match of IPL 2025.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 70th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The encounter will take place at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday, May 27.
Notably, RCB will play their last league match of IPL 2025 against LSG. The Rajat Patidar-led side have already qualified for the playoffs. However, their clash against Super Giants is a crucial one as a victory can help them to grab the top spot in the points table.
As of now, Punjab Kings (PBKS) hold top spot in the points table with 19 points. Gujarat Titans (GT) capture the second spot with 18 points. However, both these teams have completed their quota of 14 matches in the league stage. RCB are at the third spot with 17 points, and a win is a must for them to book their berth in Qualifier 1.
How can RCB finish at the top spot in the points table?
Hence, if Royal Challengers Bengaluru crush Lucknow Super Giants in the 70th match, they will join Punjab Kings with 19 points. In such a scenario, RCB will need a better Net Run Rate (NRR) than PBKS to leapfrog them in the points table. Currently, the Rajat Patidar & Boys own an NRR of +0.255, while the Kings have an NRR of +0.372.
Therefore, RCB need to defeat LSG by a margin of more than 42 runs or chase the target in less than 17 overs. If they grab a victory by these margins, they will have a better NRR than PBKS after the completion of the league stage. Otherwise, RCB will have to settle for the second spot in the points table if they fail to defeat LSG by these margins.
Moreover, the Rajat Patidar-led side needs to outplay LSG at any cost to reach the top two spots in the points table. If they lose the encounter, they will finish in the third spot in the points table, which will place them in the Eliminator clash. A top-two finish will give RCB two chances to qualify for the final.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have confirmed their spot in the Qualifier 1 match while Mumbai Indians (MI) have booked their berth in the Eliminator clash. LSG, which is captained by Rishabh Pant in the tournament, are already out of the playoffs.
