IPL 2025: List of all players retained and released by CSK

MS Dhoni is set to feature in IPL 2025 as an uncapped player.
Chennai Super Kings have locked in their list of retained players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction.
As had already been confirmed earlier, former skipper MS Dhoni has been retained in the uncapped category, a development that was expected once the BCCI brought back the rule wherein a capped Indian player who hadn’t played international cricket in the last five calendar years preceding the year in which the relevant season is held will become uncapped.
Since Dhoni’s last international outing was in 2019, five years will have elapsed till the IPL 2025 season. Hence, the 43-year-old has been retained in the uncapped bracket of INR 4 crores.
Gaiwakd-led side finished fifth in the points table in IPL 2024, failing to reach the playoffs after losing their last league match to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Apart from Dhoni, the other obvious retentions for the five-time champions are captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and superstar all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. They have also gone with all-rounder Shivam Dube, who won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title with India, and Sri Lankan young speedster Matheesha Pathirana.
A surprising omission from their retention list is that of New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, despite this brilliance with the bat in Indian conditions over the past year or so.
IPL 2025: Players retained by CSK
Ruturaj Gaikwad – INR 18 crore
Matheesha Pathirana – INR 13 crore
Shivam Dube – INR 12 crore
Ravindra Jadeja – INR 18 crore
