IPL 2025: List of all players retained and released by RR

Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal will be up for grabs at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, Rajasthan Royals (RR) have decided not to retain their star players Jos Buttler and leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. This news has surprised the fans and critics since Chahal was the leading wicket-taker for the franchise in 2024 and Buttler contributed 359 runs in what was an injury-affected season. However, the franchise may still bid for either or both of these players using their Right-To-Match (RTM) cards.

For IPL 2025, the Royals have retained six players: captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma.

Royals reached the playoffs stage of the tournament last season. Captain Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag played instrumental roles for the franchise contributing with 531 and 573 runs respectively.

Sandeep Sharma, on the other hand, signed in the 2023 auction, was crucial in the powerplay and death overs, picking up 13 wickets with an economy rate of 8.18, making him a key figure in the Royals’ bowling lineup.

While Jaiswal’s 2024 season was not as impressive as his 2023 campaign, where he scored 625 runs, Royals have stuck with the long term potential of the southpaw.

Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel have been retained for their finishing ability in the middle order. Shimron has been the key for Rajasthan in last two years whereas Dhruv Jurel is hailed for his potential in Indian circuit.
