GT and RCB take top two spots in IPL 2025 points table.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the completion of 57 games. However, the BCCI will soon release the new schedule and venues for the remainder of the tournament, which will witness 17 more games, including the playoffs and final.

No teams have yet confirmed their berth in IPL 2025 playoffs. After first 57 games of the tournament, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) take the top two spots in the points table. Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) follow them in the next two places. These four teams have a strong chance of finishing in the top four.

The next teams in the queue, Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), are still active in the race for playoffs. However, they have a narrow chance, and their qualification will also depend on the results of other teams. In this listicle, we will look on the qualification scenarios of all teams for IPL 2025 playoffs.

The Shubman Gill & Co. take the top spot in the points table with 16 points across 11 games. GT will play three more games in the league stage this season against DC, LSG, and CSK. They need to win one game out of these remaining three to enter the playoffs.

2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru

The Rajat Patidar-led side have an equal 16 points after 11 games like the Titans. They will also play three more games in the tournament ahead of the playoffs. RCB will clash with LSG, SRH, and KKR. The three-time runners-up need one more victory to confirm their qualification to the playoffs.

3. Punjab Kings

PBKS are led by Shreyas Iyer and take the third spot in the points table with 15 points. They have played 11 games so far and will play three more encounters against DC, MI, and RR. The IPL 2014 runners-up need to win one match out of these three to confirm their spot in the playoffs.

4. Mumbai Indians

The Hardik Pandya & Co. eye their sixth title in IPL 2025. They currently hold the fourth spot in the points table with 14 points in 12 games. MI will play two more games this season and they need to win both of them to confirm their spot in the playoffs. MI will face PBKS and DC in their next two clashes. However, if they win one game and lose another, their qualification will depend on the results of other games.

5. Delhi Capitals

The Axar Patel & Co. started the tournament on a high by winning the first four games in a row. However, they struggled to keep up their winning momentum later. Currently, DC occupy the fifth place in the points table with 13 points from 11 matches.

They will play three more games against PBKS, GT, and MI. DC will need to win at least two out of remaining three games, which will take them to 17 points, in order to qualify for the playoffs. If they win all three remaining games, they will finish league stage with 19 points and qualify as well. But if they manage to win one out of three games, their qualification will then depend on the results of other games.

6. Kolkata Knight Riders

The defending champions have 11 points after 12 games and capture the sixth spot in the points table. The Ajinkya Rahane & Co. will now not only need to win both of their remaining matches against SRH and RCB, but also hope that other results go in their way to capture a spot in the top four.

The maximum points they can reach from hereon is 15, and they would expect only three teams cross 16 or more points at the end of league stage.

7. Lucknow Super Giants

The Rishabh Pant & Co. have a narrow chance to make it for playoffs. The Super Giants currently occupy seventh position in the points table with 10 points after 11 matches. They will face RCB, GT, and SRH in their next three games. If they win all of them, they can snatch a seat in the playoffs with 16 points. However, the result of other teams in their upcoming games would also have to be in LSG’s favour.

8. Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH are already out of the race for playoffs. They have seven points from 11 games and take eighth place in the points table. The Pat Cummins & Co. will play three more games this season and will look to finish the season on a high note.

9. Rajasthan Royals

RR are also out of the playoffs race and take the ninth spot in the points table with six points. They will play two more games this season against CSK and PBKS. The maximum points they can reach is 10 points.

10. Chennai Super Kings

The MS Dhoni & Co. witnessed a humiliating season this time as they were the first side to be eliminated from the playoffs race. The five-time champions languish at bottom of the points table. They have six points from 12 matches and will play two more encounters against RR and GT. CSK can collect 10 points in their kitty if they win the next two games.
