IPL 2025: List of teams who have qualified for the playoffs

The top four teams in the league stage will qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has entertained fans with exciting games over the last two months. The 18th edition of the tournament, IPL 2025, witnesses clash between 10 teams. All the teams play a total of 14 games during the league stage. The top four teams in the points table after the league stage qualify for playoffs.
Surprisingly, IPL 2025 was suspended midway for a week on May 9 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. Ahead of the suspension, the tournament witnessed a total of 57 games, and no teams had fixed their berth for the playoffs.
The tournament resumed on May 17, and all the best-performing sides restarted their battle for the playoffs. IPL 2025 observed a few surprising events in the race to playoffs. For instance, five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) became the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs race. They also faced back-to-back elimination from playoffs for the first time in the IPL history.
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders dominated other teams in the previous season. However, KKR also failed to make a cut to the playoffs. Punjab Kings qualified for the playoffs for the first time since IPL 2014 season. On that note, let’s look at all teams who have qualified for playoffs in IPL 2025.
1. Gujarat Titans (GT)
Gujarat Titans (GT) are led by Shubman Gill in IPL 2025. They bagged a wonderful victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 60th match of the tournament to confirm their place in the playoffs. Chasing a 200-run target in the match, GT outplayed DC by 10 wickets with the help of their openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.
After first 12 games, GT have 18 points in their kitty. They have won nine games and lost three out of 12. They occupy the top spot in the points table.
2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are led by Rajat Patidar in IPL 2025. They have also qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2025. RCB have been one of the dominating sides since the start of the tournament.
They have won eight games and lost three out of 12. Their one match ended with no result. With 17 points, they grab the second spot in the points table.
3. Punjab Kings (PBKS)
PBKS, led by Shreyas Iyer in IPL 2025, broke their playoffs jinx after a gap of 10 seasons. They last reached the playoffs in the 2014 season and ended as runners-up. However, under their new skipper Iyer, they’ve showcased incredible form to make it to the playoffs.
PBKS outplayed Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 10 runs in the 59th match before reaching the playoffs. Although they did not confirm their playoffs berth just after the victory, the result of the following DC vs GT clash helped them to cement their place in the top four positions in the points table.
PBKS have played 12 games in the season, winning eight matches and losing three encounters. Their one match ended with no result after being washed out due to rain.
4. Mumbai Indians (MI)
The five-time champions Mumbai Indians became the fourth team to make it to the IPL 2025 playoffs. After missing out on playoffs in the last season in 2024, MI regrouped well and entered the playoffs for the 11th time.
They officially qualified for the playoffs after defeating Delhi Capitals in a virtual knockout in match No. 63 of the season. Batting first, MI were in a spot of bother, but with late bloom from Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir, MI posted an above-par total of 180 on the board and then bowled out DC for 121 to win the game by 59 runs and book their berth in the playoffs with 16 points to their name.
