Virat Kohli was back in the hut after scoring 43 runs off 35 balls against PBKS in IPL 2025 final.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli had a poor outing with the bat in the final of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). The match between the two teams is underway at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (3rd June).
After PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer put RCB into bat first, it was expected that there would be a run feast, especially with the pitch being good for batting. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt opened the innings for their team and they took their side off to a flyer.
Phil Salt (16), in particular, looked good as he slammed PBKS all over the park during his short stay. Virat Kohli played as a second fiddle to him as he kept rotating the strike, and after the England batter got out, it was expected that Kohli would take charge.
But that wasn’t the case as Virat Kohli kept playing the anchor role even though Mayank Agarwal (24) and Rajat Patidar (26) were going great guns. The senior batter was struggling to score quickly and it potentially invited the false shots from the other two batters, who got out after getting set.
Even after being set, Virat Kohli didn’t attempt to hit boundaries and sixes, and ultimately, Azmatullah Omarzai got his man. The PBKS all-rounder set the batter perfectly before bowling a short ball to which the right-hander looked to pull and got a top edge only to be caught by the bowler.
Virat Kohli was back in the hut after scoring 43 runs off 35 balls. The batter had a strike rate of 122.86. The right-hander slammed just three boundaries and with his wicket, RCB lost their fourth wicket for just 131 runs inside the 15th over.
