IPL 2026 Auction: All Australia players shortlisted

Several top Australian stars will participate in the IPL 2026 auction.

The Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) auction is fast approaching, as 350 players will go under the hammer. This one-day event will be held in Abu Dhabi, where several well-known Indian and international players will be looking for teams.

A total of 20 Australian players are up for grabs in the upcoming IPL 2026 season auction. Glenn Maxwell, who last played for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 season, was released at the end of the season. The 37-year-old has withdrawn his name from the auction and seems to have drawn curtains on his IPL career.

The 37-year-old took to his Instagram handle and wrote, “After many unforgettable seasons in the IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me.”

Australia’s batting sensation Steve Smith is set to make his return to IPL cricket. The 36-year-old was last seen playing for the Delhi Capitals in the 2021 season. Smith played just eight games that season and scored 152 runs with an average of 25 and a strike rate of 112.

Smith might attract several bidders during the auction process on Tuesday. Yet another player who is poised to make his return to the league is Cameron Green, who missed the IPL 2025 season due to injury.

Green made his IPL debut in 2023 for the Mumbai Indians before being traded to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the 2024 season.

The 26-year-old had a good time with the bat for MI, scoring a century in a key game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. After being released by RCB ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, Green will be keen to be picked as he looks to stake his claim in the Australian T20 side.

Big Bash League’s Indian hero is part of the shortlisted players

The 29-year-old Nikhil Chaudhary, who has played first-class cricket for Punjab, has found new fame while playing in the Big Bash League.

Nikhil Chaudhary is among the 20 Australian players who will participate in the auction process. Nikhil was part of the Hobart Hurricanes side that won the 2024/25 Big Bash League and has played a total of 20 games in the BBL, scoring 386 runs and also picking nine wickets.

Josh Inglis played a key role with the bat to help Punjab Kings reach the IPL 2025 final. The Australian star has made himself available for only four games for the coming season. This could mean that all ten teams could give the Aussie star the cold shoulder when the bidding takes place in Abu Dhabi.
