IPL 2026 will see a mini auction before the tournament.

The dates and venue for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction have reportedly been finalized, the Times of India stated. The tournament’s two prior auctions were held in Dubai in 2023, and the 2024 mega auction was held in Jeddah. Although an official decision has not yet been made, the mini-auction may take place in India this time.

On November 15, the second day of the first test match between South Africa and India at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the IPL franchises must submit their list of released and retained players. In the meantime, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction is scheduled for November 27 in Delhi. Since the first auction held prior to the league’s inaugural season, this will be the WPL’s first major auction.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Jemimah Rodrigues were retained by their franchises, Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), respectively. However, UP Warriorz surprised everyone by retaining only one player and letting go of Deepti Sharma, who was the Player of the Tournament in India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 win, and Australia captain Alyssa Healy.

Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney, two Australian legends, have been retained by the Gujarat Giants, while Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh, and Shreyanka Patil have been retained by the Bengaluru team.
