The IPL 2026 auction will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. The total number of players to undergo the hammer will be 350. Of the 350 players shortlisted, 240 are Indian, and 110 are from overseas. There are 77 available slots to fill across all 10 IPL franchises.
The IPL auction has consistently seen the rising value of top Indian talent, with franchises willing to spend heavily on players who offer consistency, variety, and long-term potential.
Many teams are looking for impactful Indian players, but some of the best names have the form, skill sets, and names that could pique their interest. Their ability to affect games across formats makes them strong contenders to reach the INR 15-crore mark in this year’s auction.
3. Auqib Nabi
Auqib Nabi has been in the news as the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) pacer, who has been on fire in the ongoing Ranji Trophy tournament.
The 29-year-old pacer has taken 125 wickets in 36 FC games, with best bowling figures of 7/24. He also has 42 wickets in 29 List-A games and 43 wickets in 34 T20 games for Jammu and Kashmir. He has entered the previous IPL auctions as well, but went unsold.
He is a valuable asset for any team looking to strengthen their domestic pace unit, as he can hit difficult lengths, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to different match situations. Heavy bidding is frequently triggered by Indian seamers possessing similar skill sets.
Nabi’s ability to adapt to different phases in the game is what makes him stand out in the auction. He can start with the new ball, perform well in the middle overs, and maintain composure as the game gets closer to the end.
2. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi has done well in the IPL, getting 72 wickets with an economy of 8.21 and best bowling of 3/24 in 72 IPL games. Bishnoi has also done well for India, taking 61 wickets in 42 T20Is and 194 wickets in 166 T20 games for various teams. Bishnoi was also the no. 1-ranked T20I bowler in the ICC T20I bowling rankings.
Because of his exceptional ability to mix crisp variations with fearless intent during the most difficult parts of a match, Bishnoi could command a huge offer. He is a reliable Indian spin option because of his attacking mentality, maturity, and consistency against both right-handers and left-handers.
Bishnoi might go for runs, but he is a genuine wicket-taker in the T20 format and forces batters to play false shots and get out.
1. Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) using the RTM card in the IPL 2025 auction for INR 23.75 crores. Iyer was also named the vice-captain of the KKR team for IPL 2025.
However, Iyer failed to come good with the bat, scoring only 142 runs with one fifty and a strike rate of 139.21. This left Iyer out of the XI for three games, as KKR failed to defend their IPL title.
Iyer has entered the IPL 2026 auction with a base price of INR 2 crores. Teams have a great deal of tactical versatility thanks to his natural stroke play, comfort against both pace and spin, and ability to slot into various batting positions.
He becomes a valuable Indian all-around option that few teams can overlook when you take into account his useful overs with the ball.
