The IPL 2026 auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
A list of 350 shortlisted players who will be put up for sale in Abu Dhabi on December 16, barely one week before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, was made public by the IPL Governing council on Tuesday.
There are 240 Indians and 110 foreign players on the shortlist, 112 of whom have international experience. Additionally, there are 224 uncapped Indian players and 14 uncapped overseas players. Initially, 1,390 players had signed up for the auction but only 350 were shortlisted for the auction.
Afghanistan (10), Australia (19), Bangladesh (7), England (21), Ireland (1), New Zealand (16), South Africa (15), Sri Lanka (12), and the West Indies (9) are the nine other nations whose players have made the cut.
Each team may field a roster of up to 25 players, and franchises will compete for a maximum of 77 vacant places. Wahidullah Zadran of Afghanistan, who is only 18, will be the youngest participant in the auction, while Jalaj Saxena, who is thirty-nine, will be the oldest.
After Dubai in 2024 and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 2025, this will be the IPL’s third consecutive international auction.
The ten IPL franchises retained a total of 173 players, including 49 overseas cricketers. The 2026 IPL auction will provide all clubs a total of INR 237.55 crore to spend. Punjab Kings, last year’s runners-up, have chosen the most stability, retaining 21 players, while Gujarat Titans have kept 20.
The Kolkata Knight Riders have the greatest remaining purse at INR 64.3 crore entering the auction, with room for 13 potential signings, including six overseas players. Chennai Super Kings follow, having INR 43.4 crore on hand to fill nine roster gaps.
After the highest price bracket of INR 2 crores, the next biggest bracket is of INR 1.5 crores. A total of eight players have registered themselves in this bracket. All of the registered players in this bracket are overseas players, including the likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz of Afghanistan, Tim Seifert of New Zealand, and Matt Henry of New Zealand.
