IPL 2026 Auction: Ravi Bishnoi bought by Rajasthan Royals for 7.2 crore

Bishnoi has taken 72 wickets so far in IPL.

Ravi Bishnoi’s IPL journey has just hit another big speed bump, and now he’s ready to start all over again for the Rajasthan Royals after being snapped up for 7.2 crores at the IPL 2026 auction.

The Jodhpur native’s move comes after an unexpected release from Lucknow Super Giants, where he played for four seasons and helped guide them to two playoff appearances.

Bishnoi’s time at Lucknow was built on promise and control, particularly through the middle overs, where he claimed 39 wickets and often played a containing role rather than a headline-grabbing one. That reputation ensured there was no shortage of interest once his name came up at the auction.

The bidding war began at his base price of INR 2 crore before Rajasthan Royals made their initial move and ignited a competitive battle. Chennai Super Kings entered the fray with a counter-bid before Sunrisers Hyderabad pushed the price to INR 6.20 crore as franchises recognised his proven ability in middle-overs bowling situations.

Rajasthan Royals eventually secured his services with the winning bid that represents a significant discount from his previous INR 11 crore retention fee.

That winning bid also says a lot about what the Royals are expecting from Bishnoi, as they must have thought his disappointing 2024 season was a one-off.

Ravi Bishnoi’s stats in the IPL

Despite that dip, Bishnoi’s broader numbers tell a more balanced story. He has taken 72 wickets at an economy rate of just over 8 in 77 IPL games. And that’s not to mention his international record, where he has taken 61 wickets at 7.35 in 42 T20Is.

Bishnoi last wore the India jersey in February 2025 during a match against England, and now he has the opportunity to make a fresh start with a franchise that has always supported young players going through difficult times.
