IPL 2025: Andre Russell becomes second batter to score 2500+ runs for KKR in the IPL

Andre Russell scored unbeaten 57 off 25 balls in the KKR vs RR match.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are locking horns in the 53rd match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday, May 4. The afternoon encounter is currently underway at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. During the match, KKR all-rounder Andre Russell achieved a record with his stunning knock.
The all-rounder slammed a quickfire half-century against RR. Batting at No. 5, he slammed four boundaries and six maximums to smack an unbeaten 57 runs off just 25 deliveries. He sent spectators at the Eden Gardens stadium into a frenzy by smacking RR bowlers all over the ground.
Earlier, KKR won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Sunil Narine (11) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (35) failed to give a quick start to the batting. However, Russell gave a wonderful finish to power the scoreboard to 206/4 in 20 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi also added crucial 44 runs.
Andre Russell joins Gautam Gambhir to score 2500+ runs for KKR in IPL
Notably, Russell has grabbed a rare milestone for KKR with his fabulous fifty in the KKR vs RR game. He has become the second KKR player to score more than 2500 runs for the side in the IPL history. Russell now accounts for 2555 runs in 109 innings for KKR with a top knock of an unbeaten 88.
The only other batsman to achieve this record is former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir. The former KKR opener piled up 3035 runs for the side from 2011 to 2017.

Meanwhile, Russell scored his first half-century in the ongoing IPL 2025. He earlier struggled to come up with fabulous knocks but hit the bull’s eye this time. He has mustered 129 runs across eight innings in the ongoing tournament at a strike rate of 161.25. He has also captured eight wickets for KKR with a best bowling show of 2/21.
