Glenn Phillips left the field during, SRH vs GT, match 19 of IPL 2025.
From what it looks like, Gujarat Titans (GT) overseas star Glenn Phillips might be out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 even before getting included in the playing XI in the ongoing tournament. The New Zealand all-rounder, who came in as substitute fielder, suffered an injury during SRH vs GT clash on Sunday, April 6.
SRH are facing GT in 19th match of IPL 2025 currently at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Batting first in the match, the home team SRH struggled to pull up a decent total in first innings, adding just 152 on the board for eight wickets.
Nitish Kumar Reddy slammed the most 31 runs as no SRH batter managed to reach a half-century. GT pacer Mohammed Siraj clinched a four-wicket haul to dismantle SRH batters in Hyderabad.
Glenn Phillips leaves field after groin injury during SRH vs GT game
During the sixth over of first innings, SRH batter Ishan Kishan hit a shot towards point to sneak a single. Glenn Phillips quickly collected the ball, but injured himself while going for the throw. As he fell on the ground in pain, the team physio arrived on the field to check on him.
Later, the GT all-rounder left the field. He was seen holding his groin area while walking off the field. Notably, Glenn Phillips was one of GT’s Impact Players named for the match and has not been part of the playing XI officially in any game so far.
The Titans bought the overseas player for INR 2 crores during IPL 2025 mega auction. Interestingly, the Kiwi batter impressed with his fielding skills during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, picking impossible catches with incredible dives.
Phillips’ injury is a series issue for GT as he is an all-rounder, who can smack runs down the order and also capture wickets with his spin attack. His reflexes while fielding are an added advantage. Hence, the Shubman Gill-led side will face a tough challenge in finding his replacement if he gets ruled out of IPL 2025.
