Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer Jasprit Bumrah has achieved another milestone during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The right-arm pacer has become the joint highest wicket-taker for MI in the IPL history. He shares the record with former teammate Lasith Malinga. The MI pacer achieved the milestone during SRH vs MI, match 41 of IPL 2025 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Ahead of the game, Bumrah had 169 wickets in his kitty and needed two wickets to surpass Malinga for the record. Although he could not get two wickets in the match, he captured one wicket to equal the record. Bumrah grabbed the crucial wicket of SRH wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen to achieve the feat. Notably, Klaasen slammed a stunning half-century for SRH and scored the most 71 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah equals Lasith Malinga’s record in 138 games
Interestingly, Bumrah has grabbed 170 wickets for MI across 138 games. However, Malinga was quite quicker to reach the mark. He picked 170 wickets in just 122 games across 11 seasons. Malinga represented MI from the 2009 to 2019 seasons. He also picked those wickets at a better economy rate of 7.14 as compared to Bumrah’s 7.32.
If we look at the top five wicket takers for the five-time champions in IPL, former players Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard are part of the list. Below is the list of the top five highest wicket-takers for MI.
