KKR occupy sixth spot in the IPL 2025 points table with 12 points.
Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed on Saturday, May 17, with the 58th match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The venue of the match was M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, the match was washed out due to heavy rain and ended with no result.
Hence, both RCB and KKR were allotted one point each. Rajat Paditar-led RCB jumped to the top spot in the points table with 17 points after the match. They displaced Gujarat Titans (GT) to the second spot. RCB have won eight games and lost three out of 12 games. They will play two more games in the league stage.
KKR eliminated from the IPL 2025 playoffs’ race
KKR are led by Ajinkya Rahane in IPL 2025. Unfortunately, they have been eliminated from the playoffs race after the match against RCB got washed out due to rain. KKR continue to stay in the sixth spot in the points table with 12 points. They have played 13 games so far, winning five games, losing six matches, while two encounters ended with no result.
KKR will play only one more match in IPL 2025. They will clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 25 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. However, they can only reach 14 points even if they win the match. It won’t be enough for them to reach the top four spots in the points table.
Notably, the top four teams in the updated team standings have at least 14 points in their kitty. Therefore, KKR cannot leapfrog them in any circumstances now. They are the defending champions of the tournament. Last season, the Knight Riders crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final to clinch their third IPL title.
Meanwhile, the Ajinkya Rahane & Co. are the fourth team to be eliminated from the playoffs race. Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have already been eliminated from the playoffs race.
