KL Rahul became eighth batter to score over 5000 runs in the IPL.

Delhi Capitals (DC) batter KL Rahul has scripted his name in IPL record books after his marvellous half-century in match No. 40 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He became the eighth batter to score 5000 or more runs in the IPL and also become the fastest to reach the milestone in the IPL. He reached the milestone after his match-winning knock against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday, April 22.

Notably, the wicket-keeper batter has broken David Warner’s record to become the fastest batsman to reach 5000 runs in the IPL. Rahul has accumulated 5000 runs in 130 innings. On the other hand, former Australia stalwart David Warner reached the milestone in 135 innings.

The third batter in the list is Indian batting legend Virat Kohli, who took 157 innings to reach the milestone. Kohli is also the highest run-getter in IPL history.

The wicket-keeper batter led the way to help DC chase down a 160-run target in LSG vs DC game. The encounter took place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Rahul slammed an unbeaten 57 runs to help DC chase down the target by eight wickets.

He also slammed his third half-century of the season. Skipper Axar Patel also slammed an unbeaten 34 runs as DC defeated LSG by eight wickets. Earlier, opener Abishek Porel (51) gave a stunning start to the batting with his half-century.

After being asked to bat first, LSG failed to come up with a good show with the bat at their home ground. Openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh gave an awesome start to the batting with 52 runs and 45 runs respectively. However, the next batters failed to follow up on their good start. Ayush Badoni (36 off 21) added some crucial runs down the order, however, the Super Giants could only reach 159/6 in 20 overs.
