Mayank Yadav is yet to join the LSG camp.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer has given an update on pacer Mayank Yadav’s fitness as he’s yet to join their camp for Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Pace sensation Yadav is undergoing recovery at the Bord of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCC) National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Notably, Yadav is recovering from a toe injury. Last season, he grabbed a lot of limelight after winning back-to-back Player of the Match awards after his IPL debut. However, the right-arm pacer could only feature in four games for LSG and left the tournament midway due to an injury.

Recently, pacer Akash Deep made a return to the LSG side after recovering from a lower back issue. The Indian pacer sustained the injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 in Australia. However, he is completely fit now and also featured in LSG’s last match against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday.

Mayank Yadav is up and running: Justin Langer

During the post-match conference of LSG vs MI clash on Friday, LSG batting coach Justin Langer gave an update on Mayank Yadav’s return. He informed that Yadav has been running and recovering well at NCA.

“So Mayank [Yadav] is up and running, which is really great for Indian cricket, for the IPL. We saw the impact he had last year. I don’t think there’s been a bowler in India who’s bowled faster than Mayank. That’s why there’s so much talk about him. He’s up, he’s keen to get going,” the LSG coach informed.

“He bowled really well in Bangalore yesterday with the NCA (National Cricket Academy). I think he’ll have another couple of bowls,” he further added.

Langer also thanked NCA for doing a wonderful job in operating their players through recovery and bringing back players like Avesh Khan and Akash Deep.

“Hopefully, the NCA, to their credit, have obviously done a very good job because they’ve got Avesh Khan back for us. They’ve got Akash Deep back for us. So we really appreciate the work they’re doing to get the boys back playing. And now hopefully Mayank as well. And then you and I will both be happy”, concluded Langer, who took over as LSG’s head Coach ahead of IPL 2025.

LSG have won two games out of four

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant-led LSG have played four games in IPL 2025 so far. They have won two games and lost two. With four points, they are currently placed sixth in the latest standings.

Supergiants crushed MI by 12 runs in their last clash. They will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday, April 8. The match is scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
