Mayank Yadav last played for India against Bangladesh last year.
Mayank Yadav, the tearaway Delhi pacer, has joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) camp for the remainder of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. He was retained for INR 11 crores by the LSG team ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
After finishing his recuperation at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, the fast bowler made his way back to the team’s camp on Tuesday night. Due to a back ailment, he hasn’t played since October 2024.
In Hyderabad, the bowler played his final competitive match against Bangladesh. He sustained a toe injury during rehabilitation, which further postponed his return.
Yadav has experienced both injuries and outstanding achievements during his IPL career. Before being sidelined by injury, he claimed seven wickets in four games for LSG. In his first two games, the pacer was named Player of the Match.
He took 3 for 14 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and 3 for 27 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Mayank made his debut for India in the T20I series against Bangladesh, capturing four wickets in three games.
The 22-year-old, who rattled the best of hitters with speeds of over 150 kmph last year, is anticipated to be a key member of the Rishabh Pant-led club as they contend for the playoffs this season.
Mayank Yadav joins the LSG camp; he is to undergo a fitness test before resuming playing
Mayank Yadav has returned to the LSG squad for the remainder of the IPL 2025, having completed his recuperation.
However, Yadav will be assessed for fitness by LSG’s head physio, Ashish Kaushik, before being available for the forthcoming match against the Rajasthan Royals.
He has had five stress fractures in the last two years alone. According to The Times of India, he will be considered for the weekend encounter after gaining consent from Kaushik.
LSG have had serious injury setbacks during the 2025 IPL season. Mohsin Khan was eliminated from the competition, and Akash Deep and Avesh Khan both missed many matches due to injuries. To fill the vacancies, LSG signed Shardul Thakur as an injury replacement, and he has been leading the pace attack.
Thakur has 11 wickets in seven matches for an average of 24.91 and an economy rate of 10.96. He is now the tournament’s third leading wicket-taker.
