IPL 2025: DC bowling coach Munaf Patel fined after DC vs RR clash in Delhi

Delhi Capitals (DC) bowling coach Munaf Patel has been found guilty of breaching IPL code of conduct during his team’s last match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Hence, the former Indian seamer has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee.
The DC vs RR encounter of IPL 2025 took place on Wednesday, April 16, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In the thrilling clash, Axar Patel-led Capitals won the match in the Super Over to clinch their fifth victory of the season.
Munaf Patel fined 25% match fee for breaching IPL code of conduct during DC vs RR match
The match referee found the DC bowling coach Patel for breaching the IPL code of conduct and fined him 25% match fee. Although there were no details available for his exact offence, it is speculated that Patel had an argument with the match official when he was not allowed to send a player in the middle of the game to convey his message.
He was found guilty of Article 2.20 IPL code of conduct. He has also accumulated one demerit point for his mistake. Patel accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.
“Munaf Patel, Bowling Coach, Delhi Capitals has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Wednesday,” said the IPL statement, adding that Munaf had “accepted the Match Referee’s sanction.”
Talking about the DC vs RR match, RR won the toss and opted to bowl first. DC piled up 188/5 in the first innings with combined batting efforts by Abishek Porel (49), KL Rahul (38), Tristian Stubbs (34*), and Axar Patel (34).
Sanju Samson-led RR did a wonderful job during the chase, with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) and Nitish Rana (51) hitting half-centuries. However, they failed to capture the nine runs needed for victory off the final over of Mitchell Starc. The match ended in a tie. Later, DC chased down 12 runs in the Super Over. With five wins across six games, the Capitals have 10 points in their kitty and steal the top spot in IPL 2025 points table.
