IPL 2025: Mustafizur Rahman gets NOC from BCB to play for Delhi Capitals

DC roped in Mustafizur Rahman as replacement of Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Mustafizur Rahman to play for Delhi Capitals (DC) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Rahman has been picked by DC as a replacement player for Jake Fraser-McGurk. DC have inducted the Bangladesh pacer for INR 6 crores.
McGurk returned to Australia after IPL 2025 was suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Later, he informed that he won’t return to the league. As a result, DC inducted Rahman as a replacement player for McGurk in their squad.
Rahman is currently in UAE and is part of Bangladesh squad for the upcoming T20I series against UAE Cricket Team. The series will witness two T20I games on May 17 and May 19. Both games will take place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Mustafizur Rahman gets NOC for May 18-24
Interestingly, the left-arm pacer has got the NOC to participate in IPL 2025 from May 18-24 as of now. Hence, he will be part of the 1st T20I clash against UAE on May 17 but will miss the 2nd T20I. He will fly to India to represent DC in their three matches of the league stage.
The Axar Patel-led side will lock horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 18, Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 21, and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 24. DC have a slim chance to make it to the playoffs. If they qualify for the playoffs, Mustafizur’s availability for playoffs will depend on his or Bangladesh’s participation in the forthcoming T20I series against Pakistan.
Bangladesh Cricket Team is scheduled to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series starting May 27. However, some players are reluctant to visit Pakistan due to security reasons following the recent border disputes between India and Pakistan. Earlier, BCB revealed that they won’t force any player to travel to Pakistan.
The Pakistan vs Bangladesh T20I series will observe five games from May 27 to June 5. Earlier, the series was scheduled to commence on May 25. However, since Pakistan Super League (IPL) 2025 final was postponed to May 25, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revised the schedule for the T20I series.
Meanwhile, Rahman’s presence in DC squad comes as a big boost as the team will miss the services of Mitchell Starc for the remainder of the tournament. Starc, who is the leading wicket-taker for DC, has made himself unavailable for the rest of the league.
