Rain has delayed the toss of RCB vs KKR clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are all set to clash in the 58th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Saturday, May 17. The venue of the clash is M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
However, the RCB vs KKR match has been affected by heavy rain in Bengaluru city. The toss has also been delayed due to the rain. Notably, RCB needs just one more victory to qualify for the playoffs. Hence, if they crush KKR in the match, they will confirm their berth in the playoffs. On the other hand, KKR need to win the clash to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
Rajat Patidar is the skipper of RCB in IPL 2025. Ajinkya Rahane is the captain of KKR. RCB have won eight games and lost three matches out of 11 encounters so far in the tournament. They occupy the second spot in the points table with 16 points. KKR have won five games and lost six clashes out of 12 matches so far. They take the sixth spot in the points table with 11 points.
Will RCB qualify for IPL 2025 playoffs if RCB vs KKR match gets washed out?
If the RCB vs KKR match gets washed out due to rain and ends with no result, both teams will get one point each. Hence, RCB will reach 17 points and then qualify for the playoffs. They will also go on to top of the points table displacing Gujarat Titans.
The Rajat Patidar & Co. have two more games left in the league stage excluding the match against KKR. RCB are scheduled to face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 23 and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27.
Meanwhile, KKR will face a big blow if their match against RCB is washed out due to rain. They will reach 12 points from 13 games and will only play one more game later. Hence, they would be able to reach maximum of 14 points even if they win their last league match, which won’t be enough for them to qualify for the playoffs and the defending champions will be eliminated from the race to playoffs.
