IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant slams journalist after the latter claims LSG will release Pant before next season

Rishabh Pant is the skipper of LSG in IPL 2025.
Rishabh Pant is the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The franchise bought him for a whopping amount of INR 27 crores at IPL 2025 mega auction. He became the costliest player ever in the IPL history. Later, he was named the skipper of the side.
However, Pant has completely struggled with the bat as well as his captaincy in IPL 2025. The left-handed batsman got out for low scores in many games this season. He owns a poor average of just 13.73. He accounts for 151 runs across 12 innings with a top knock of 63.
LSG have also witnessed a poor season under Pant’s captaincy. They didn’t qualify for the playoffs. Out of first 12 matches, they lost seven games and won five matches. They have 10 points and grab the seventh spot in the points table.
Rishabh Pant slams user spreading fake news on X about his outer from LSG
On Thursday, May 22, Pant slammed a journalist on X (formerly Twitter) who claimed that LSG will release him before the next season. The journalist tweeted that LSG is going to sack Pant as skipper and drop him from the side ahead of next season. However, Pant rubbished the fake news with a reply.
“I understand fake News gives more traction to content but let’s not built everything around it. Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda. Thanks have a good day . Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media,” the 27-year-old wrote on X.

To this, the journalist replied, “Hi Rishabh, I don’t think you call shots in LSG. You will remain captain or not, it will be decided by LSG management. Let them clear the air. Thank you and enjoy last 2 matches of IPL 2025 as captain.”
Notably, Pant has tried different batting slots in IPL 2025, however, he struggled to find his form. After IPL 2025 was resumed, the Super Giants needed to win all of their remaining three matches to qualify for the playoffs.
However, the Rishabh Pant & Co. lost their first match after IPL 2025 resumption against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by six wickets on May 19. The defeat ended their slim hopes of reaching the playoffs. LSG will play their last match of the tournament against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 27.
