Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowling coach Shane Bond is hopeless of his team making it to the playoffs of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. His words arrive ahead of RR’s must-win game against Gujarat Titans (GT). The RR vs GT, match 47 of IPL 2025, is taking place on Monday, April 28.
The venue of the match is Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur – the home ground of RR. Notably, the Royals have lost their last five consecutive games in IPL 2025. Also, they have been short of their skipper Sanju Samson in a few games.
Samson has been in and out of the tournament due to injuries. He is also not part of the match against GT. Riyan Parag is the stand-in captain of RR in the encounter. He also led the team in previous clashes when Samson was unavailable.
RR is probably out of IPL 2025: Shane Bond
While speaking ahead of RR vs GT match in Jaipur, Bond said he feels RR will not make it to the playoffs in IPL 2025. However, he also added that they want to showcase a strong performance in the climax of the league.
“We’re probably out of the tournament in terms of the points table, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a lot to play for. Obviously, as a team, we want to make sure we finish the season strong and continue playing well,” Bond said.
Notably, RR played nine games ahead of the clash against GT on Sunday. They have won just two games and lost seven matches out of nine. With four points, they are positioned ninth in the points table. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) follow them in the last spot with an equal number of points.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the best performer for the side with the bat. The left-handed batter has smacked 356 runs across nine games with four half-centuries including a top knock of 75 runs. No other RR batters have managed to cross 300 runs even after nine games. In bowling, Wanindu Hasaranga has picked the most (10 wickets) across seven games. Jofra Archer follows him with nine wickets.
