Shubman Gill has scored 389 runs in nine games for GT in IPL 2025.
Shubman Gill’s availability for the Gujarat Titans’ (GT) next Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match has been revealed. The GT will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their next encounter at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday, May 2.
It’s important to note that Rashid Khan led the squad against the Rajasthan Royals, while GT captain Shubman Gill did not take the field. During his post-match address, Gill disclosed that his absence from the field was due to an unfortunate back spasm.
Vikram Solanki, GT’s Director of Cricket, provided a crucial update prior to the exciting match regarding captain Shubman Gill’s back spasm that resulted in his substitution against the Rajasthan Royals.
Shubman Gill’s fitness update revealed
However, given that the Titans’ director of cricket, Vikram Solanki, stated candidly during the pre-game press conference that he will be training today and is certain Gill will be well enough to play on Friday, it appears that Gill might be able to play in the game.
“His fitness, there was a bit of a back spasm. We’re just trying to be careful with it. He’ll be at training today. We’ll just see where he’s at. We’re reasonably confident that he’s going to be OK,” Solanki said on the GT skipper’s fitness update ahead of the game.
Solanki continued by talking about the match against the Royals, in which they suffered a startling defeat as a result of Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s outstanding innings in Jaipur.
“Firstly, I don’t think the team has been decimated or anything of the sort. We mustn’t take any credit away from that young man. He (Suryavanshi) played quite brilliantly. Of course, we could have done things differently. We could have bowled in a slightly more controlling manner; we could have sort of shut him down perhaps,” the GT director added further on the game against RR.
Shubman Gill’s numbers in the ongoing IPL 2025
Shubman Gill, who is well-known for his spectacular stroke play, has recently shown incredible consistency with the bat. Even though his IPL 2025 campaign got off to a wild start, Gill was able to turn things around and eventually became GT’s go-to guy, joining Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler at the top order.
Gill has scored 389 runs in nine games for GT in IPL 2025. He averages 48.62, and his strike rate is 156.22, with the highest score of 90, and he has scored four fifties thus far.
The Titans, meanwhile, have won six of their first nine games and are on course for a seamless playoffs spot. They will move up in the IPL 2025 points standings, which is now held by the dominant Mumbai Indians, if they win tonight.
