Travis Head has scored 281 runs in 11 matches so far for SRH in IPL 2025.

Australia batsman Travis Head will not be part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) upcoming clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Head is one of the openers for SRH in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He returned back to Australia after IPL 2025 was suspended on May 9 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

However, unlike many overseas players, Head confirmed that he will join the SRH squad for the remainder of the tournament. The Pat Cummins-led side are already eliminated from the race to the playoffs. However, they will play three more games in the league stage.

The IPL 2016 champions will face LSG on May 19, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on May 23, and Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 25. They currently occupy the eighth spot in the points table with seven points.

Travis Head contracted COVID before returning to India, reveals Daniel Vettori

SRH head coach Daniel Vettori has informed that Head will not be available for SRH’s next game against LSG, which will take place at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on Monday (May 19). He also informed that the Australia opener contracted Covid-19 ahead of his return to India.

“Travis is coming in tomorrow morning. He was delayed. He actually had COVID, so he couldn’t travel. He’ll get in tomorrow morning and we’ll assess how he is after that,” Vettori told reporters.

Meanwhile, Head is the third-highest run scorer for SRH in IPL 2025. The left-handed batsman has mustered 281 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 156.11. He also slammed two half-centuries with a top knock of 67.

Interestingly, Head is also part of Australia squad for the forthcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final. The match will take place between Australia and South Africa next month. Hence, some Australia and South Africa players have opted out of the remainder of IPL 2025 to play in the crucial test match.

However, Cummins and Head have decided to play the remaining games for SRH in the tournament as their last match will take place on May 25. Before the suspension, IPL 2025 was originally scheduled to conclude on May 25.
