Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his IPL debut 2025.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) played their last match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Wednesday, May 20. They faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the 62nd match of the tournament. Chasing a target of 188 runs, RR opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed a half-century to help the team end the season on a winning note. RR won the match by six wickets.

The Sanju Samson & Co. had a dismal show this season and could not qualify for the playoffs. However, there were a few positives to look out for. For instance, youngster Suryavanshi has proved himself to be an emerging batter for the side.

The left-handed batsman made his debut in IPL 2025. He finished the season with 252 runs across seven matches, batting at a brilliant strike rate of 206.55. Suryavanshi also slammed one century and one half-century in the season.

Suryavanshi also scripted record books by becoming the youngest ever player to slam a century in the IPL history. The 14-year-old slammed a century against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 47th match of IPL 2025. His 101-run knock off 38 balls helped RR chase down the 210-run target by eight wickets.

After his knock, Suryavanshi grabbed a lot of limelight. During a chat with RR Head Coach Rahul Dravid, the RR opener revealed he received 500 missed calls after his knock but kept his phone switched off.

“I received over 500 missed calls, but I had kept my phone switched off. A lot of people were approaching him after I scored the century. But I don’t like that. I try to stay away. I had kept my phone off for 4 days; I told you that. I like to be around my people at home and a few friends. That’s it,” he said.

“I have been preparing for 3-4 years. And I saw the results too. Whatever was missing, I was able to work on it. All the things that once looked tough, became easy. I have realised that it’s important to stay focussed. There’s no such thing as natural game. You only have to play according to what the team needs. And not try to do too many extra things at this level. I have to stay in my strong zone and make the team win,” he further added.

Dravid cautioned Suryavanshi that more bowlers will come prepared to attack him next season. Hence, he should train hard and develop more skills.

“It was a great season. Keep doing what you did, play well, train well. But keep this in mind that next year, all these bowlers will come prepared, more prepared against you. So we too have to prepare, train hard, and develop more skills. Well done,” Dravid said.

Meanwhile, RR ended the season in the ninth spot in the points table with eight points. Out of 14 games, they won just four games and lost 10 matches. They missed their skipper Samson in most games due to multiple injury concerns. In his absence, Riyan Parag led the side.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the highest run-scorer for RR in IPL 2025 with 559 runs, followed by Parag with 393 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga, Jofra Archer, and Maheesh Theekshana picked up the most wickets for the side with 11 scalps each.
